WhatsApp: Stay connected to contacts who don't share numbers

What it does

VTEX CX Platform now supports WhatsApp's Business Scoped User ID (BSUID), preparing your conversations and native automations for contacts who may not share a phone number. Contact identification uses the available identifier automatically, without changes to your VTEX CX setup. Agents can also invite contacts to share their phone number through a native WhatsApp component. BSUID-only interactions will become available once Meta enables them for end users.

Benefits

  • Prepared for WhatsApp changes: Support BSUID-based identification as Meta introduces new privacy-focused interactions
  • Automation readiness: Prepare native WhatsApp automations to use alternative contact identifiers without additional configuration
  • Less reliance on phone numbers: Support identification through phone numbers, BSUID, or both
  • Optional number sharing: Invite contacts to share their phone number through a native component they can decline

How to use

Use the native WhatsApp component to invite contacts to share their number. Supported conversations and automations already use the available identifier, so no setup is needed. BSUID-only conversations will become available when WhatsApp enables them.
