What it does
Developers can now add custom extension points to the Sales App: on the cart page, product detail page (PDP), and menu; embedding in-store-specific features directly into the assisted sales experience. Alongside the extensibility framework, VTEX ships the Sales App Extensions Skill (sales-app-extensibility), an AI-powered skill with embedded knowledge of Sales App hooks and the FastStore monorepo. The skill follows a seven-step workflow: from prerequisite checks and discovery through code generation, documentation, local testing, and deployment. It generates extension code using Sales App patterns, flags gaps in user flows or integrations, and keeps the in-store UX consistent with the ecommerce experience.
Benefits
- AI-assisted development from day one: The Extensions Skill guides developers through the full lifecycle: setup, code generation, testing, and deployment. Reducing ramp-up time and implementation errors.
- Custom in-store experiences without a full custom build: Extension points on the cart, PDP, and menu allow merchants to surface loyalty programs, recommendations, warranties, and external integrations directly in the Sales App interface.
- Consistent with ecommerce flows: The skill keeps in-store UX aligned with existing digital commerce patterns, reducing design and implementation overhead for features already live online.
How to use
Install the sales-app-extensibility skill from the VTEX Skills collection following the instructions in the developer documentation. Use your AI coding assistant with the skill active to scaffold, generate, and deploy Sales App extensions. Extension points are available on the cart page, PDP, and menu. Refer to the Sales App Extensibility guide for available extension point locations and use case examples.
